Capital Region Heritage Festival 2026

 

Once again, Canberra Railway Museum is supporting the Heritage Festival with extra opening days.

From 11 April to 10 May, we will be open from 10am to 3pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Visit the Museum and learn about one of the most significant innovations in history and Canberra’s own rail heritage, from the Griffin plans to the introduction of lite rail. Discover the lost history of construction railways in the Capital and why there is no railway station in Civic! Climb aboard the cab of over 100-year-old steam loco no. 1210, that brought the first revenue train to Canberra in 1914. Imagine yourself enjoying the luxury of train travel in vintage sleeping car AL1040. And there’s more.
