Museum Policy for Pets
Our preference is that customers do not bring pets to the Canberra Railway Museum (CRM) in order to safeguard our heritage collection and ensure the comfort and experience of other visitors to the Museum.
We will generally deny pets entry. We will, however, allow dogs to enter under strict conditions:
Assistance Dogs
- May accompany the person at all times as required.
Other Dogs
- Must be on a leash at all times.
- Must be clean and tidy (no muddy feet) on entry.
- The owner must pick up after the dog at all times.
- Are not allowed in carriages or engines at any time.
- It can only be in the museum building to allow entry to and exit from the museum.
- Must be under the control of the owner at all times.
- Only one dog per person or group (two or more people) is allowed entry.
CRM reserves the right to ask the owner to remove a dog from the property if CRM deems the dog's behaviour as unacceptable, such as: overly loud, creating a disturbance or adversely impacting other customers.
CRM may refuse entry of a dog displaying unacceptable behaviour on arrival or in such other circumstances that CRM considers entry of a dog would not be appropriate, such as special event days or days with a very high volume of visitors to the Museum.
Owners will be asked to agree to the conditions on entry to the Museum.
