Exciting news for Canberra! Transport Heritage NSW will be bringing the iconic steam locomotive 3801 to Canberra for steam hauled trips from 4 to 6 September. 3801 is back in operation after major overhaul work, and we are thrilled to be one of the first destinations to see this legend of steam back in action.

Friday trips will run to Bungendore and return, with departures from Canberra Station at 12.25 pm and 5.20 pm. Over the weekend, THNSW will be offering shorter trips from Canberra to Burbong (beyond Queanbeyan about halfway to Bungendore) and return. Travellers will get to experience the very scenic Molonglo Gorge behind the ultimate Green Machine!

Between trips, the loco will be recoaling and rewatering in the Canberra Railway Museum yard. Stay watching our website and Facebook pages for further updates as planning continues. Meanwhile, you can grab your tickets at Canberra Steam Train Rides | Transport Heritage NSW
